Samsung unveils REX series full touch phones, aims at Nokia Asha

Samsung after, eating out a major chunk of Nokia’s smartphone market is now gearing up towards, the Finnish giant’s entry level full touchscreen enabled Asha line-up of feature phones. We all know, Nokia’s Series 40 feature phone are doing superb in growing markets like India, Middle East and Africa. Looking at the Nokia’s growing share in this segment, the Korean mobile maker has today outed its new series of Smart feature phoned, named as REX. This series consists of four full touch devices running on Java platform, and all of them utilizes Samsung’s TouchWiz UI Lite edition.

The REX series includes REX90, REX80, REX70 and last but no the least REX60, all comes with with Dual SIM slots. The REX90 is the most feature rich phone under the new lineup with a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen, Wi-Fi connectivity and a rear facing 3.2 MP camera. The REX80 is a bit step down version and blessed with a slightly smaller, 3-inch capacitive touchscreen, Wi-Fi and mounts a 3 MP camera unit on the back. The REX70 sports a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen, on the other hand the last contender under the new line-up, REX60 has to be satisfied with just a 2.8-inch resistive touchscreen, and sadly there’s no Wi-Fi connectivity added within both of these phones.
Now comes the features, Samsung has cleverly tailored its new series of feature phone to gain more attraction amongst buyers by including two key features. First is the Active Smart standby, which is an edge over Nokia Asha phones, and allows users to receive another call on the second SIM card while, remain active on a call over the first SIM card of your phone. The another key feature is True Easy Swap, it’s exactly what Nokia is boasting since the day they had entered in to cheap Dual-SIM phone segment, the ability to remove and insert second SIM card, without turning off your phone.

These new REX phones comes factory loaded with native social clients like Facebook, Twitter and for messaging needs Samsung has already bundled all of the devices with its cross platform compatible ChatON services, as well as other instant messengers like Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, Facebook Chat and more.
All of the phones will be shortly available for sale starting in India followed by other markets with a price range beginning from $80 (approx.) to $120 (approx.) respectively.
